The sun is shining and the temperatures are rising as we embrace the beautiful summer season here in the Biggest Little City. Reno has a lot of fun events and activities coming up over the next few months that the whole community can enjoy.

Movie Nights

Join the City in Yori Park for a free showing of Moana on Saturday, June 8 at 8 p.m. Future movies at Yori Park include:

  • The Lego Movie 2 – June 29 at 8 p.m.
  • The Incredibles 2 – August 3 at 7:45 p.m.

Pools & Water Play Features

The City’s two outdoor pools, Idlewild Pool and Traner Pool, open for the season on Saturday, June 8.

New Procedure at Traner Pool for Summer 2019

Due to a national lifeguard shortage, and for the safety of all patrons, Traner Pool’s daily open swim program will be split into two sessions, and admission will be limited capacity based on lifeguard availability. For more information, please visit Reno.Gov.

You can also stay cool at one of the City’s water play features at the following parks:

  • Panther Valley Park (11 a.m. – 7 p.m.)

  • Silver Lake Park (11 a.m. – 7 p.m.)

Camps for Kids

Parents, if you’re looking for all-day recreation program options for your children, consider the City of Reno’s Vacation Station programs. We also have specialty camps including Bicycling, Adventure and Leadership Training. Financial Assistance (Scholarships) may be available – contact the Administration Office 775-334-2260.

Train at Idlewild

The train at Idlewild Park is a nostalgic ride that highlights the most scenic parts of the park. It will run every day, except Mondays, through Labor Day (September 2). Hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays and holidays and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends (weather permitting).

Summer Sports Leagues

The City of Reno has numerous options for enjoying the beautiful summer weather with their adult sports leagues. Registration is open for Adult Softball and Kickball that is played at the Reno Sports Complex, as well as Basketball and Volleyball Leagues that take place at the Evelyn Mount Community Center and Plumas Gym.

Shape Up Reno

Shape Up Reno is a FREE fitness series offered by the City of Reno and local partners through Labor Day (Sept. 2). The Shape Up Reno goal is to facilitate improvement of the overall health and wellness within our local community by educating and empowering individuals through fitness.
